PSC expands e-transaction for SEAG bound athletes
THE PHILIPPINE Sports Commission (PSC) is readying etransaction to provide a speedy workflow of its services to national athletes under the various National Sports Associations (NSAs) inclusive to the so-called Sports For All program of the government.
John Fortaleza, head of the NSA Affairs of PSC, in the weekly program of government-owned DZSR Sports Radio, said their agency will introduce e-transaction to cater to the 56strong NSAs and allied sports associations and non-NSAs across the country.
“Under the leadership of PSC chair William Ramirez, his standing policy is to focus not only to elite (sports) but to the needs and requests of sports clubs, institutions and local government units (LGUs) down to barangay level following the Sports For All program," he said.
Under PSC's e-transaction, he said the requests of NSAs such as for training and equipment should be submitted through electronic mail (email). In return, the PSC will evaluate and email back their approval.
Upgrading the agency’s technical needs like computers are included in the etransaction program.
Currently, Fortaleza said his office is manned by five evaluators servicing 56 NSAs.
Fortaleza said preparation for the country’s participation to the 29th edition of the SEA Games is generally working smoothly, through the joint management committees of the PSC and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC). However, he said some NSAs still need to submit their liquidations, especially in recent participation in international meets, as requirement in joining the biennial meet.
Fortaleza said majority of the SEA Games’ bound NSA requests have been addressed.
He, however, admitted that the procurement law is giving PSC a “big toll” in processing requests of NSAs especially those bound for the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur this August.
He said the PSC is meeting regularly with the government procurement board to address the problem. PNA
