CBAO finalizes list of stalls subject of closure

- Ian Jefrey Addatu

THE CITY Building Architecture Office (CBAO) is readying the list of at least 10 building establishments in the city subject for closure after converting their parking spaces into stalls.

Engineer Nazita Bañez, department head of CBAO said their office is still finalizing the list of the building establishments’ that will soon be closed by city located mostly in the central business district.

The names of the establishments however will not be released to the public, according to Bañez.

"I will report to the mayor those who have not yet reverted their stalls into parking spaces. They still have enough time but if they will not still comply then the list will be given to the mayor," Bañez said.

Since CBAO started sending notices to building establishments, some have already reverted their stalls into parking space.

"There were also some who have appealed to us where we have given them considerations to comply and it is good that some of them have complied. If they can have a solution or they can negotiate with other building establishments for their parking space since this is provided under the National Building Code," Bañez added.

Under the closure order, the city licensing division can close the stalls and have the power to revoke their business permits if they do not comply with the law.

"We remind the business owners to comply now with the requirements, revert their stalls or find spaces since they have still time before actions we will be undertaken," Bañez said.

The National Building Code provides every establishments should have their parking space.

In 2015 and 2016, CBAO has reminded the stall owners to comply with the code. Early this year, CBAO has also sent notices to them to faithfully comply with the law.
