SHS teachers undergo K to 12 training
TWO hundred fifty senior high school teachers of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) are currently undergoing mass training on the K to 12 Curriculum at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University -South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC) in Agoo, La Union, July 2-19.
Participants to said training are newly hired teachers of the academic tracks this school year 2017-2018 as well as those hired last year but were unable to join the training for the first batch.
Department of Education -CAR in partnership with DMMMSU housed the teachers in privateowned apartments in the town of Agoo. Trainings were held by clusters based on learning areas. Resource speakers and facilitators in the training are faculty members of the said university.
The training is in line with Republic Act (RA) No. 10533 or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 and the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Program. It aims to provide teachers with complete understanding of the curriculum frameworks, learning standards, competencies, teaching plans and assessments.
According to DepEd Regional Supervisor Sabado Oayet of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division, as of the current school year there are already a total of 173 Senior High Schools in the entire Cordillera, 169 of which are Integrated Schools and 4 are Stand Alone.
