Arnis to the world
THE dream of so Filipino martial artist seeing our very own national sports and martial arts in the grandest stage of them all, the Olympics maybe an ambitious feat to achieve but not impossible to work into reality.
It only needs love and genuine patriotism, as one Filipino martial arts master said “love is the highest art, in the ancient times you trained so hard not for the sake of killing people, but for the love of your family: for the love of your mother, your father, your children your tribe and your body. It is for the love of life! That’s why we train so hard, so you can preserve life!”
As it is always said, the Filipino martial arts of Arnis carries so much of Filipino culture and tradition. Our heritage and our being is connected to this less regarded art more appreciated by foreigners, but because of love and passion there are still people who keeps on finding
ways to preserve it and make sure the legacy continues.
Many individuals and organizations had their dance with fate in trying their best to propagate the greatness of Arnis unselfishly, sacrificing many comforts of life just to tend on ways to let the world know about this great art of the Philippines.
Sports have been one of the avenues to promote its lighter side which can pretty much involve anyone from all ages.
The sports art form is a good introduction to the art but just like any other martial arts the first lesson you learn is its tenets and values which includes discipline and respect with the goal of achieving perfection of character guided by the ethics of the art.
The national sports association for arnis, Arnis Philippines Inc. (ARPI) and Arnis Pederasyong International Inc. (iArnis), the only national sports association recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission in promoting the Philippine national martial arts and sports of arnis in pursuit of propagating our very own martial arts to the world will be hosting the 2017 iARNIS WORLD ENCOUNTER which will commence on July 24 until 29 at SM Mall of Asia (MOA), Pasay City, Manila.
