Domogan asks for calm on Ortega successor
MAYOR Maurico Domogan is asking eager-beavers to calm down following the passing of the late councilor Bobby Ortega.
Domogan twitted those speculating on who the successor of the late legislator adding he does not want to create a problem in vacancy the position Ortega left and assured there will be formal talks to be conducted with the party as well as the family when the time is right.
Ortega was honored at the City Hall last week before being brought to his hometown in San Fernando City, La Union bringing together political allies,
police colleagues and supporters.
Ortega passed quietly in the afternoon of July 30, leaving behind a position in the city council which is to be filled according to the wishes of his family, he was 78.
Domogan said the family’s preference will be respected in the anticipated decision.
The mayor, a party mate of Ortega said talks in succession will be made after mourning and tradition have been completed by the family but earlier hinted, his son Roberto Ortega VI might be made to take his place in the city council.
In City Council Resolution 282 series of 2017, Ortega’s political career and achievements were recalled during a necrological service last week at City Hall.
“Councilor Ortega is remembered as a community leader and public servant, his efforts and contributions to the City of Baguio in various plans, programs and activities are well appreciated and his demise is a great loss not only to his family and friends, but to the City of Baguio,” the resolution noted.
“His legacy of service continues and will serve as an inspiration to Baguio’s future leaders and is worthy of recognition,” the resolution states. Maria Elena Catajan
