THE CITY Council will conduct a summit on public protection and safety and peace and order on Sept. 15, 8 a.m. at the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) Multipurpose Hall at South Drive.

City council secretary Brenner Bengwayan said the conference aims to gather inputs and concerns on the present peace and order situation in the city to aid the city council in coming up with future legislative measures.

During the summit, members of the City Council committee on public protection and safety erstwhile chaired by the late Councilor Roberto Ortega will also present and discuss some related legislative proposals to gather inputs and reactions before these will be presented to the body for action.

At the same time, various strategies, processes and operations for the attainment of peace and order in the city will also be presented to the public.

Barangay officials and residents have been invited to the summit to share on how they can establish a closer working relationship with concerned agencies to make their areas of jurisdiction “safe, drugfree and crime-free.”

Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the summit is timely considering the heightened security concerns being faced by the country relative to drugs, terrorism and other crimes.

Domogan presided over the City Human Rights, Justice, Peace and Order Council meeting on Tuesday where the city police under police director Ramil Saculles sought the cooperation of the various sectors in the implementation of anti-crime measures particularly in the barangays.
