“Be blessed”

- MY DEAREST CHILDREN,

WHENone plays cards, lotto, or other games of chance, one is playing against some mathematical odds that can be computed beforehand by some math wizards. They can tell with great certainty what your chances of winning are, or inversely, tell you what the odds are against your winning.

The casino operators and gambling operators have these data at their fingertips, and make money using these time-tested formulas. In spite of such knowledge that the cards are stacked against them, people still “take their chances”, hoping for that “lucky” day, and quick route to riches and fortune. Winning against the odds is thus, by chance or by luck.

What would be the difference between having bad luck and being cursed?

As believers in Christ, do we believe in being cursed?

Prov. 3:33 says, “The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous.”

What does it mean to be cursed? I believe it would mean having a series of unfortunate or unfavorable incidents/accidents or setbacks for no explainable scientific reason.

How should we look at them? Perhaps, it would be good to reflect on our lives as we maintain a faith-filled positive outlook.

Questions we can ask are: “Are we wicked? Are we evil? Do we exhibit evil behavior?”

If yes, then we should know what it takes to “end the curse”, by being righteous and God-fearing, and acting on it.

Prov. 8:13 says: “To fear the Lord is to hate evil, I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior, and perverse speech.”

And when blessings come our way, do we know how to handle them?

The first thing is to acknowledge them. Next, is to count them. (They would normally outnumber by far, all unfortunate incidents and temporary setbacks) And finally, let us be grateful for them.

1 Thes. 5:16 says, “Be joyful always. Pray continually, and in all circumstances, give thanks, for that is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

A great positive attitude and deep faith with trust in the Lord will see you through, in all circumstances.

Business and financial setbacks, family and marital concerns, human relationship and personal issues, can be overcome with prayers, persistence and perseverance. Have the heart and mind of fearing the Lord, so that each setback will be looked upon simply as a blessing in disguise.

Be a light to each other. Be a blessing to one another.

Keep to mind a traditional Irish blessing that goes this way: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

And when we say, “God Bless”, to one another, may it include what is written in Numbers 6:24-26 “the Lord bless and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;

the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”

Be blessed My Dearest Children!
