Do Conducts Training on Capability Building of Teachers Teaching English, Mathematics in Grade 5 and 6
The Department of Education-Benguet Division Office (DO) trained 95 participants in English and 120 participants in Mathematics and Science in Grade 5 and 6 held at Adivay Hall on July 13-14 and July 19-21, 2017. The participants came from the 14 districts of Benguet Division.
The training in English aimed to enhance the teachers’ knowledge and skills on the structures and written expression in English proficiency, develop process of teachers in Mathematics and Science on interpreting data, making models, analyzing data, communicating, measuring and quantifying and experimenting, bring out innovation techniques in teaching Science, Mathematics and English, and provide an avenue on professional sharing on Mathematics, Science and English teaching toward active learning.
The topics discussed in English were Basic Grammatical Structures ( Verb Form/ Tense Prepositional and Participial Phrase, Preposition, Conjunction, Adjective in a Series and Adverbial Phrase), Reading and Writing Expressions Verb Agreement, Series of Adjectives that modify a noun, Verb Form/ Tenses, Form of Adjectives Form of Gerund, Preposition, Noun Form, Use of Article, Conjunction and Spelling). While in Mathematics and Science, the topics discussed were Experimenting, Evaluating, Measuring/Quantifying, Communicating, Making Models (Mathematics and Science), How to Interpret Data, How to Analyze Data (Math & Science), and Action Plan.
The speakers on the various topics in English were Jevera Domogen, Thomas Tompap both from National High School, Senior Department and Francis Peckley, Education Program Supervisor in English and for Mathematics and Science, they were Fausto Pandosen, a teacher of SPED, La Trinidad, Benguet, Mila Caliging Educ.Program Supervisor In Science.
