Belingon, Iniong gears up for 'Legends of the World'

-

TEAM lakay’s Kevin Belingon and Gina Iniong start gearing up as possible undercard for the upcoming One Championship event at the Mall of Asia Arena on November to be headlined by lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang.

Coach Mark Sangiao confirmed to Sun.Star Baguio Belingon and Iniong will see action in the upcoming Manila fight card with still unnamed opponents.

Belingon is coming off huge knock out win against Australian submission specialist Reece McLaren in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August.

The former bantamweight title contender made a strong case for another shot at the title by finishing McLaren in just 62 seconds, dropping his Australian opponent with a hard right straight before punctuating with followup strikes on the ground to compel referee Olivier Coste to step in and halt the contest.

Belingon recorded his seventh knockout win as a professional with the impressive triumph over McLaren to improve his record at 16-5.

Iniong meanwhile will seek his second One Championship victory as she steps inside the cage on November following his rousing debut last year, also at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The atomweight contender made her successful ONE debut, in April earlier this, besting Filipino-English fighter Natalie Gonzales Hills with a solid display of striking superiority.

Looking to play the role of counterpuncher, Iniong laid back and allowed Hills to press most of the action.

Iniong dominated in the clinch with knees to the lower body and scored on a handful of takedowns while finding a home for her powerful right hand which landed with great accuracy throughout the fight.

ONE: Legends of the world will be headlined by Folayang, who will defend his title against ONE featherweight world champion Martin Nguyen in a cross-divisional showdown slated November 10.

After nearly a decade of competing in various promotions, Folayang has amassed an impressive 18-5 professional record and is currently riding a four-bout winning streak against highprofile opponents, including an emphatic technical knockout victory over Japanese legend Shinya Aoki to capture the championship in 2016.

Nguyen of Sydney, Australia, recently scored the biggest victory of his career when he stopped former undefeated featherweight champion Marat Gafurov in Macao last August. Roderick Osis
