Lepanto Elementary School topped the 2017 district math and science festival

LEPANTO Elementary School was the overall champion in the just concluded 2017 District Math and Science Festival which was held on September 18-19, 2017 at Mankayan Central School, Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet. Lepanto Elementary School headed by Karen B. Tegan got a total points of 155, Palatong Elementary School headed by Asterio C. Madalla was the first runner up with a total points of 93 and Marivic Elementary School under the leadership of Romana P. Mates was the second runner up garnering a total points of 70.5.

Participan­ts from LES did their best to beat their opponents who came from the different schools Mankayan District.

For the Math Quiz, Roxanne Jane D. Banasan (Grade 3) was the 1st Place (Coach-Betty T. Panonot), Steven Kharl D. Bustillo (Grade 4) got 2nd place, (CoachEleut­erio D. Tegan), Andrea Gayle G. Ventura (Grade 5) was the 1st place (Coach-Fe A. Camodag), and Emir Gianlorenz­o R. Lazatin (Grade 6) was 3rd place, (CoachCarme­lita M. Balas)

In Science Quiz Grade 3, Shalisha O. Coc-obab was the 11th place (Coach- Betty Panonot), Grade 4, Iana Patrice A. Lucas was 5th place (CoachAnton­ia M. Simeon), Grade 5, 2nd place was Ritchie Vonn C. Espada (CoachRosar­ia C. Bonoy), and in Grade 6, it was topped by Justin Louie F. Kedcheman (CoachVener­ando V. Rosal ).

For the board games, in Sci-dama Level II, 7th place was Shailyn P. Agno (Coach-Alicia B. Ferrer), Level III- 6th place was Czyphrine P. Tufay (Coach- Angeles Tudlong).For Damath Level II – 5th place was Marcial C. Gayongan (Coach – Dominga Lucas), Damath Level III – 4th place was Rese C. Ferrer (CoachEleut­erio Tegan).

In the Science Investigat­ory Project, there were four projects for the team category and three projects for the individual category were presented during the festival. Garnering the 1st place in the team category was the project “Rambutan Seeds as Brewed Drink”. Proponents were Mariah Virginia S. Yu, Ethan Ryu Dominic C. Fadlen, Norielyn Rhane A. Due (Adviser-Michelle M. Ngala). Another project “Pinya Peelings Nutritious Source of Natural Vinegar won 2nd place and proponents were Jojie Cabaluna, Eingell Maui Gapasin and Sharmaine Tanong (AdvisersEm­ily F. Kedcheman and Venerando V. Rosal). “Lemon Grass and Peppermint as Natural Insect Repellant” garnered 3rd place and proponents were Vlyzyl Rimquel T. Batchi, Aurora Gwen O. Salupen and Yui Lei Lacpap (Adviser-Petra Kis-ing). The fourth project in the team category was the “Scrap Vehicle Spring Converted to Hand Hoe” which garnered 5th place and the proponents were Tyrael Elric T. Marzan, Juelle M. Ngala, Lander C. Manapeng (AdviserAnn­eline V. Comila). For the Individual Category, ““White Strands of Langka as Siomai Wrapper” defended by Justin Kechemen of Lepanto Elementary School bagged 1st place( AdviserVen­erando Rosal and Emily Kedcheman). “Conversion of Scrap Vehicle Spring into 2-in1 Small Japanese Fork Hoe” garnered 2nd place with Richelaine Kate C. Espada as the proponent (AdviserMic­helle Ngala). The third project under the individual category was “Lanzones Seeds Bio-insecticid­al Effects for Wrigglers “by Jasper T. Panonot won 4th place (AdviserCar­idad A. Rosal and Betty T. Panonot).

For the teacher category, Eleuterio Tegan of Lepanto Elementary School won 1st place in Action Research and 1st place in Math SIM Grade 4.

All the first place winners in the different contested events will be joining the 2017 Division Math and Science Festival to held at Lepanto, Paco, Mankayan, Benguet on October 4-6, 2017.
