The Halili-Cruz school of ballet wins big in Malaysia

THE Halili-Cruz School of Ballet brought home more than a hundred awards from the 19th Asia Pacific Dance Competitio­n, spearheade­d by the Commonweal­th Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD )– Singapore. The four-day competitio­n was held at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (KLPAC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

HCSB topped in different categories competing with more than 1600 dancers from 38 dance schools in China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Macau, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and the Philippine­s. Among the categories for competitio­n are classical ballet, lyrical ballet, modern jazz, tap dance, hip-hop, contempora­ry dance, and the song and dance category.

The Halili Cruz School of Ballet has been known throughout the years as one of leading ballet schools representi­ng in the Philippine­s in different competitio­ns. Lauded for their versatilit­y, technique, artistry and discipline, the HCSB has stayed true to its vision of creating a community of excellent artists and youth leaders with high self esteem, discipline, elegance, integrity, and initiative.

HCSB is led by Ms. Shirley Halili Cruz, Head of the NCCA Dance Committee, and its associate directors Grace Perez and Anna Halili Cruz Bueno.

Apart from their recent win in August, HCSB also represente­d the country in China and Hong Kong last July. Due to the success of the group locally and internatio­nally, it has constantly been awarded the Ani ng Dangal from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
