Brawner salutes Cordillera warriors

JOINT Task Force Ranao Deputy Commander Col. Romeo Brawner Jr. congratula­ted Cordillera­n members of the Armed Forces of the Philippine­s and the Philippine National Police embedded in the main battle field of Marawi for the past months.

"Being a fellow Cordillera­n myself, the gallantry in action that that they have shown is a testament of a Cordillera­n warrior who seeks for peace to which, these grave warriors continues to fight not only for their country but for the people of Maranao."

The death of PO2 Daniel T. Tegwa from Bauko, Mountain Province came as sad news for the region. He was assigned with the Special Action Force embedded with the Scout Rangers and was part of the force which successful­ly killed terrorist leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute in

Marawi City.

Brawner said "The government commends our fellow Cordillera­n soldiers and policemen assigned here in Marawi for being a part in finally defeating the Islamic inspired militants".

Brawner is part of the Philippine Militray Class 89 assured that all the necessary awards and remunerati­on for the fallen and injured will be accorded by government.

"Although I am saddened that some of our soldiers and policemen particular­ly coming from the Cordillera paid the ultimate sacri- fice or have been injured due to the fighting, I salute and commend them for their bravery in times like this."

Aside from the PNP-SAF and the Army Scout Rangers, other Cordillera­n servicemen are also with the Philippine Marines, Coast Guard and Philippine Air Force who form part of the joint operations which successful­ly annihilate­d Maute and Hapilon.

To date, 155 servicemen were listed as "Killed In Action" while 1,600 were listed as injured in the almost five month long battle in the City of Marawi.
