222 Pupils, teachers attend district press con

MANKAYAN District– 181 pupils and 41 teachers joined the District Campus journalism training held at Mankayan Central School last October 12-14, 2017 for them to be wellequipped in the production of their school papers and in preparation for the Division Schools Press Conference.

Ms. Janera Lansoan coordinated the training having tapped 15 speakers who tackled the nine different events both in English and Filipino namely news writing, science news writing Editorial writing, Editorial cartooning, Feature writing, Photojournalism, Sports writing, Copy reading and headline writing and broadcasting.

13 lecturers from the elementary school paper advisers and two coming from the high school namely Mr. Jeffry Japson and Hanky Mae Aten-an used the lecture method with the use of samples, through power point presentations showing tips and winning pieces for the writers guide in making their worn articles/outputs.

Three schools topped the competition, Marivic Elementary School reigned in the awarding having garnered six first places, and one third place followed by Lepanto Elementary School journalists who got two first places, three second places and 5 third places. Guinaoang Elementary School placed third having two first places, two 2nd places and 1 third place.

15 schools in the entire district is expected to join the Division Schools Press Conference to be held on November 18-21, 2017 at Benguet National High School at Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.Janera S. Lanso-an.
