More than 200 to graduate from jobstart program

-

SOME 200 jobseekers have completed the life skills training under the Jobstart Philippines Program offered by the Dept. of Labor and Employment and the city government through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

PESO head Jose Atanacio said the grantees received their certificates of training completion in a program conducted last Nov. 18 at the Baguio City Hall Multi- Purpose Hall with guests Mayor Mauricio Domogan and DOLE Cordillera officer- incharge regional director Ronie Guzman.

The life skills trainings aimed to develop the grantees’ personalities and equip them with basic skills on conducting themselves during job interviews and increase their chances at getting hired.

Atanacio said upon completion of the first stage, the grantees will move to the technical training proper where they will continue to receive a daily stipend with free meals while continuing to hone their skills.

After the training, qualified grantees will be taken in for internship where they will be entitled to higher allowances or direct employment. Other grantees will also be referred to partner agencies for possible hiring.

Atanacio said the Jobstart program funded by the Canada

ADB addressed the problem of job mismatch currently affecting job applicants in the country.

The partner companies supported the pro- gram, mostly local business establishments numbering more than ten, will also be honored during the program. Aileen Refuerzo
