Tublay activates fire station

- Lauren Alimondo

EACH municipality in the province now has a fire station.

Following the activation of the fire station in Tublay on Monday morning, the province has completed the goal to have at least one fire station for each of the 13 municipalities.

Tublay Mayor Armando Lauro said “Finally it came to reality the activation of Bureau of Fire Protection ( BFP) in the muncipality of Tublay.”

“Right now considering that Tublay is already being urbanized because of the congested La Trinidad there is a need for BFP where we do not need to seek aid from nearby municipalities in LaTrinidad, and Kapangan,” added Lauro.

A 250 square meters in barangay Caponga was donated by the municipality for the construction of the main fire station.

The land is form the 600 square meter newly acquired lot by the municipality purchased from private lot owner while another 300 square meter lot in barangay Tublay central was also allotted for its substation.

Six personnel from BFP led by Senior Fire Officer Jade Guinyawan were officially assigned to the station.

This year, Guinyawan said they have corresponded to a lone structural fire in the municipality however, due to the distance from La Trinidad it took them one hour to respond in the site.

Chief Inspector Ramel Borja Chief of operation Cordillera Administrative Region claimed by January or February next year a

new batch of purchased trucks will come for the municipality while in the meantime the municipality will be maximizing one fire truck from the BFP La Trinidad.

Borja said the BFP have also responded to non-fire activities like emergencies and ve- hicular accidents to assist police in operations.

All municipalities have fire trucks each in the province except in the municipalities of Itogon and Atok of which are LGU owned. A total of 67 fire trucks currently operated by BFP in the Cordillera.
