Be an involved supporter of your child’s education

SUCCESSFUL and caring adults are all what parents want their children to be. Reason why a vast majority of parents want to get involve with the formal education of their kids. They recognize that parents’ involvement in education is crucial. They are aware that giving their kids the gift of attention pays huge dividends.

The possibilities of parents assisting their children in school are endless. Participating in events at school, providing experiences and materials that supplement course work, helping children with organizational strategies, being classroom helpers or tutors, planning and working in fundraising projects, accompanying classes on fieldtrips, assisting coaches on sporting events, helping out with arts and crafts workshops, voting in school board elections, speaking in classes about your expertise, participating in parentteacher associations, or becoming an advocate for better education in your own community are meaningful ways by which parents can show engagement in their children’s education.

Research maintain that the encouragement, reinforcement, and modeling parents provide their kids can influence their children’s education positively. At the most basic level, parents can begin motivating their children on the value of education. Even the simplest evidence of caring about the significance of education can go a long way in inspiring children to treasure their schooling.

Parents and guardians can take time to speak with their children concerning any activity they are doing together—eating a meal, for example— thereby promoting the value of learning. These conversations between the parent and child are beneficial. Parents and guardians can ask their children questions about whatever activity they are engaged in as well as ask how they feel about the activity.

Bear in mind that even if you cannot volunteer to do work at school, you can help your child learn while at home. The key question is, “What can I do at home to reinforce what the school is doing to make my children learn?” Probably as a parent or guardian you can help your child organize his or her time, implement screen time diet, check and monitor if your child is doing his or her homework. These are simple ways every family can provide to help support their children.

Being an involved supporter of your child’s education can be challenging when you have other responsibilities, but the reward can be great. By showing interest in your children’s education, parents and families can spark enthusiasm in children and lead them to a very important understanding that learning can be enjoyable and is well worth the effort required.
