3 Kalinga LGUs finalize proposals for INREMP
CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga -- The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) here and three of their local government unit partners are now finalizing proposed rural infra project submitted for funding under the Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management Project (INREMP).
PENRO Officer Noel Barrientos said proponents from Balbalan, Pinukpuk and this city were able to comply with the requirements including the provision of counterpart.
They are undergoing write-shop in Baguio City from November 27 to December 1 to come up with the final inputs for their proposals.
Proposals for funding for calendar year 2018 under the DENR-led infra component include rehabilitation of access roads, communal irrigation systems, foot path trails, and spring water development.
He said a total of P27.5 million was proposed by the three LGUs. Balbalan proposed a total of P11.6 million worth of projects, Pinukpuk – P 7.2M, and Tabuk City – P 8.7M. Said LGU partners share 20 pecent counterpart. Other LGUs have proposals but are lacking in required documents.
INREMP allotted P62 million for DENR led rural infra projects of which Kalinga will share about P37.5 million. Tanudan proposed P 1.6M; Tinglayan – P 2.3M, Pasil – P 4.3M, Lubuagan – P1M, and Rizal – P842,000.
The INREMP is a project of DENR that aims to manage the upper river basins and component watersheds to support poverty reduction, watershed management, biodiversity conservation and climate change policy objectives. The Chico River Basin in CAR is just one of four priority river basis ns covered under this project.
In a related development, Barrientos reported his office is awarding six small water impounding projects in Pasil under the National Greening Program costing a total of P3.56 million. He added that they are also validating accomplishments of partner-people’s organizations under reforestation projects.
