PSC conducts PWD sports clinic

THE ST. John Paul II Learning Center, Inc. (SPLCI) will conduct a Sports Clinic on December 7 and 8 at the Baguio Athletic Bowl in coordination with the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and the Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled (PSC-PHILSPADA).

School Principal Novella Joy Garma said the two-day activity aims to prepare local persons with disabilities (PWDs) for the Asian Paralympics that the country will host in 2019.

On December 7, there will be an opening program at Baguio Athletic Bowl starting 9 a.m. with SPLCI chairman Antonio Dayot giving the welcome remarks and city social welfare and development officer Betty Fangasan the opening message.

Delivering the inspirational message is councilor Arthur Allad-iw while NCDA Information, Education and Communication Division chief Rizalio Sanchez will also give a message while a PSCPHILSPADA trainer will give an introduction of sports to stu-

dents with disabilities.

In the afternoon, PSC-PHILSPADA representatives will conduct actual demonstrations and game trials and hold an orientation on how to handle students with disabilities in sports for special education (SPED) teachers.

A mini-olympics of track and field events will be conducted by PSC-PHILSPADA on December 8 from 9 a.m. until 3 in the afternoon. This will be followed by the closing ceremonies with Sanchez and Avelino Tomas giving the closing remarks and awarding of certificates to the activity’s participants.
