79 79 ESTABLISHMENTS ESTABLISHMENTS IN IN VIOLATION VIOLATION OF OF CITY CITY ORDINANCE ORDINANCE

- Jonathan Llanes ENTERTAINMENT establishments in the

City have agreed to abide by ordinance number 88 series of 2009 which provides penalties for those which exceeds operations under the prescribed time.

In a meeting with Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Baguio City Police Director Ramil Saculles and the City Treasurers Office, 79 establishments were found to have violated the city ordinance.

"The reason why we called for this compromise meeting is part of the constitutional due process accorded to everybody. We want to know what you plan to do, to allow you a chance to operate your establishment under the

rules of the ordinance," said the mayor.

Of the 79 violators, 26 have paid for the 1st offense, 24 committed 2nd offense, five committed 3rd offense, and one committing four offenses.

Domogan started the campaign in 2010, resulting to the closure of hundreds of establishments.

The drive prompted many business owners to comply with the law resulting to the increase in the number of business permits issued and in the tax collection over the years as per the records of the city treasury office.

The result of the compromise meeting gave the establishment owners and the treasury department an opportunity to reassess the citations filed against the violators, for them to make the necessary remedies before facing the strict implementation of the ordinance.
