Benguet cops collar most wanted in January
THE BENGUET Provincial Police in its intensified anticriminality and drug clearing efforts led to the arrest of several top most wanted persons (TMWP) from January 1 to 30 this year.
At least 38 suspects in the provincial and municipal level of Benguet were arrested according to a report by the Benguet Provincial Police investigation branch based on the warrant of arrest issued by the court.
Arrested wanted individuals in the provincial level committed crimes such as acts of lasciviousness, estafa, theft, malicious mischief, and bouncing check law.
Among the top wanted persons include Lito Paggi of Sablan, Ronnie Borja of La Trinidad and Marvin Arsenio from Buguias. All three were collared for the violation of the AntiViolence against Women and Children.
Danilo Mensorado of Buguias were also
apprehended for three counts of statutory rape, Rea Asiong for theft and Perry Baybay for the violation of animal welfare act.
Benito Esto and Nestor Daoas were busted for rape, Felipe Tinoy-an for acts of lascviousness, Erwin Litawen for frustrated murder, Goldwyn Rabe for estafa, and Gerardo Samson for attempted homicide.
Meanwhile, Benguet police have also further intensified on the re-activation the Oplan Tokhang in the province with the assumption of acting provincial director Senior Superintendent Lyndon Mencio.
The tokhang operations will be effective from Mondays to Fridays from eight to five in the afternoon.
Oplan Tokhang operations will be divided into two teams, a municipal drug enforcement unit who will be in charge of the conduct of arrest for official drug users surveyed by the 'TokHangers' who initiated profiling of the authorities possible for apprehension.
In the conduct of tokhang, La Trinidad top cop Chief Inspector Benson Macli-ing said they have started consultations with the barangays, retrieving a list of the possible drug users. By the end of the week, authorities will be finished reaching out to the barangays.
A positive case of resurgence was noted by the authorities during the conduct of random drug test involving those who are enrolled in a community-based rehabilitation program.
Macli-ing said they are focusing on the central business districts in barangay Pico, Poblacio, Balili, and Cruz. Police recorded a 236 drug surrenderees in the capital town of Benguet.
