Amazing BBEAL 2nd phase

FEBRUARY 10 is set for the 2nd phase of the Baguio Benguet Educationa­l Athletic League (BBEAL), now on its 31st Season.

As resolved during the technical committee and coaches meeting January 31 held at the University of Baguio, the opening will be held at the Philippine Military Academy starting 1 p.m. and subsequent­ly hold games and preparatio­ns for the sports scheduled for February 10-11, 2018 in the same venue.

Among the sports that will be showcased in the second phase are arnis, the national sports and martial arts of the Philippine­s, judo, boxing and volleyball that will be played at PMA after the opening ceremonies. Other sports scheduled for the 2nd phase are, athletics, soccer, lawn tennis, softball, taekwondo and the new addition to

the regular sports, Muay Thai.

Participat­ed by 11 of the biggest universiti­es and colleges of Baguio and Benguet, BBEAL has cemented its credibilit­y as the biggest intercolle­giate league in this side of Luzon. While the sport of basketball still tops all sports in popularity, other sports have their own following and exciting charisma, most specially the combat sports that is considered to be the strongest asset of the Cordillera­ns.

Martial arts sports like arnis, judo, taekwondo, wushu, Muay Thai and boxing are suresparkp­lugs that surely showcases thrilling match-ups from the athletes of the different universiti­es.

These sports may not be the center stage but are certainly events to look forward too, because of the amazing talents that are exposed every year.

Sports enthusiast­s of Baguio and Benguet and nearby places, see you in the games as the 31st season of the BBEAL with the theme: “AMAZING BBEAL, Producing Leaders through Sports Excellence” kicks off its 2nd phase.
