Legal war up for Sinot

-

A LEGAL battle now is up for Roger Sinot Sr.

Today (February 5), affidavits will be submitted to Branch 6 Presiding Judge Cecilia Corazon Dulay-Archog for her to come to a decision on the case and hopefully put to rest the now controversial issue of the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative [IPMR] for Baguio.

During Friday’s hearing, petitioner Gaspar Cayat representing the Kalanguya group and Joseph Sacley for the Ibaloi side took the stand and was questioned by lawyer Francis

Camtugan, counsel for Sinot in a bid to prove clear and unmistakable rights and the presence of serious injuries if and when Sinot takes his place in the local council as IPMR.

Dulay-Archog is anticipated to rule on two cases involving Sinot regarding the Motion for Reconsideration assailing the Order for extending the Temporary Restraining Order for 17 days and the application for the issuance of Writ of Preliminary Injunction.

Affidavits on the civil case filed by the group of Manuel Cuilan, Paul Pasigon, Joseph Sacley and Gaspar Cayat and Mayor Mauricio Domogan representing the City of Baguio, asked for an extension of the TRO through an interpleader with answers from Sinot will be reviewed by DulayArchog.

Last year, Sinot bested four others in the bid to be the first Ibaloi IPMR which is now contested by the petitioners alleging exclusion of other Indigenous Peoples and confining the voting and selection to the Ibaloi group. Maria Elena Catajan
