-

THE BAGUIO Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) will hold its annual general elections on February 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Philippine Information Agency regional office.

BCBC past president and lifetime member Delmar Cariño, chair of this year’s election committee, said members who are running for any position should file their notarized certificates of candidacy at the PIA office on or before 5:30 p.m. of February 13.

A candidate should state he or she is a regular BCBC member and an active member who has been regularly covering news and media events for the last 12 months preceding the elections.

The candidate must be an incumbent member of a media outfit at the time of the filing of interest to run as club officer.

Media outfit means mainstream newspaper, television, radio or on line media news provider. Pure bloggers and hobbyist (writers/photographers) are disqualified, Cariño said.

The election committee will meet immediately after the deadline to determine the eligible candidates.

The following are the positions to be filled up: President; Vice President for Print, Radio, and Television; Secretary; Treasurer; Auditor and four board of directors. Candidates and members must pay their annual dues before they can vote.

Right after closing time on election day, canvassing of votes will be done by the elections committee, who also sits as Board of Canvassers.

The election committee is composed of past BCBC presidents March Fianza of Northern Philippine Times, Jonathan Llanes of Sun.Star Baguio, Liza Agoot of Philippine News Agency and Migs Velarde of MorningSky.
