Somber homecoming set for Gov Rocky

IT WILL be a sad homecoming for Benguet.

Former Governor Raul "Rocky” Mencio Molintas gently passed on in a hospital in Caifornia beside his wife, Pura, who never left his side.

In a statement, his eldest, Charmaine said “We would like to inform our relatives and friends that our beloved Dada, passed away today, Wednesday 14 Feb 2018, 720 US Pacific Standard Time (Thursday, 15 February 2018, 11:20AM Philippine time) in San Francisco, California. He briefly passed acute leukemia and hemorrhagi­c stroke and was unable to recover.”

Rocky has been travelling to and from California to be with his beloved wife, who is assigned in the area in her official function as Department of Tourism attaché.

Rocky was served as governor to the province of Benguet from 1995 - 2004 and was also part of the Cordillera Career Developmen­t College.

Rocky also headed the defunct local weekly, Cordillera Today which was enviarrest­ed

sioned to mirror local events in the province.

Charmaine said “We ask you to please join us in fervent prayer for his soul to find peace and for his family’s comfort during this time of sorrow. Viewing in the San Francisco Bay Area before departing for the Philippine­s is being arranged. Details of his wake and interment in the Philippine­s will likewise be announced.

Rocky is part of the seven Molintas boys, all leaders in their own fields; Teddy, Rocky, Edgar, Jose, Wright Jr., Gerry and Jason.
