P17.4M weed seized in Kalinga
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera, Region 1, Region 2, Philippine Army, and local police successfully torched marijuana worth P17,480,000 in simultaneous eradication drives in Kalinga over the weekend.
In Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, law enforcers destroyed six marijuana cultivation sites planted with 40,000 fully-grown marijuana and 9,600 marijuana seedlings with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P8,384,000.
Government troops, meanwhile, uprooted and burned at Barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan some 44,700 fully-grown marijuana and 3,900 marijuana seedlings sourced from nine plantation sites.
The illegal hemp destroyed in Buscalan were valued by DDB at P9,096,000.
The anti-illegal drug operations came days after operatives set on fire some P2.04M worth of marijuana in Kibungan, Benguet.
A football coach got a red card after being arrested with P.9M worth of marijuana in a checkpoint, also in Buscalan.
Joint agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and local police arrested Billy Jack Magana Sanchez, 24 – years - old and resident of Timog Park Homes, Angeles, Pampanga after they found four marijuana bricks and six tubular marijuana stalks packed in his bag.
The illegal hemp weighing 11,170 grams were valued by the Dangerous Drugs Board to be worth P941,250.00.
Sanchez is now detained at the Tinglayan Police Station pending the filing of a case for violation of Republic Act Number 9165 otherwise known as "The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002".
