Tita Terry: Pusong Mamon

- Life. Karu Villanueva (brenandkaru@yahoo.com.ph)

TbestERESITA Bautista Chio, Tita Terry, as I lovingly call her, is undoubtedly one of my and favorite titas. She really has a “pusong mamon”, (a person who is softhearted). She is very mindful of others needs even if she is busy or does not feel well herself. She is the “nanay” of everybody, even of the whole school, literally! My cousins and I usually run to her at Meng’s at the UB cafeteria when we need or forget to bring things for school, or to ask for advice or we just need a shoulder to cry on for our trivial problems, in our crushes and love

I also guess I was closest to tita Terry because we shared a lot of memories together. We were both University of Baguio exchange students to Japan (Nagasaki Wesleyan University). Both Tita Terry and Sir Jodes Romero (tita’s friend and confidant), were instrumental to my scholarship grant. Tita Terry and I would share our experiences and we loved to converse together in Japanese to the delight of our relatives. Tita is certainly a born linguist who speaks a lot of languages naturally. We also both enjoy to host visiting Japanese exchange students to the Philippines.

Even at her bedside at home, she would ask the “ates” to prepare merienda for us and other visitors. And at the hospital, I remember vividly her last words to me, “aishteru”, meaning I love you and “gomennasai”, to mean sorry. To my mind, I was wondering how such a selfless person in pain, would even consider thinking Working with and entertaining others in her condition. event

Tita Terry’s attitude towards life is really suppliers. inspiring. The most valuable lesson she has taught us is to always value family more than anything else. Family always comes first. And also to always be kind, generous and helpful. To always pray, attend holy mass and trust the Lord in everything.

Tita Terry and her husband tito Bing will always be remembered for their community projects for Pusong Mamon together with sir Jodes’ Lapis at Papel. Her UB High School batch of ‘84, where she was very active in, will surely miss her. So with my titas Angie, Emmaling, Susan, Jowelyn and my dadz Tolitz who are among tita’s best of friends.

Tita Terry, 49 y/o is lived by my two handsome and humble cousins, kuya Mikee and Pao, siblings titos Eddie and Engr. Ton, Jing, titas Violy, Angie and their respective families. I know in my heart that Tita Terry will be happily reunited with her husband tito Bing, mother lola Mameng and father lolo Totoy. May we also request for your fervent prayers for her eternal rest with God. Tita Terry’s remains lie at Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral Baguio Columbarium. We love and miss you Tita terry!
