Abra drug situation manageable
FOLLOWING the surrender of the newly elected barangay officials included in the narco-list, Abra provincial director Police Superintendent Wilson Soliba declared a manageable drugsituation in the province.
“In so far as the drug problem in Abra is concern, I think it is manageable on our part,” said Soliba.
For the drug surrenderers, Soliba added they are closely monitoring on their activities. “Although mayroon bumabalik, vina-valdiate namin.”
Governor Maria Jocelyn Bernos said they remain bullish in sustaining the drug-free declaration for the province of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
“I have the chance to present the narco-politicians on the list, but we are still wishing and hoping that we will sustain the drug-free declaration in our province. Sana matulungan kami ng PDEA and PNP kasi malaki iyong impact ng declaration noon na drug-free and probinsiya ng Abra,” expressed Bernos.
On June 22, five barangay captains and nine kagawads of the province who will officially serve their barangays on July 1 resurface and expressed their support in the fight against illegal drugs.
The 14 newly elected barangay officials of Abra together with the governor surrendered to the Police Regional Office and the PDEA in the region at the Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Bernos have also asked the PDEA-Cordillera to possibly have an agreement with the Department of the Interior and Local Government to make remedies on the parameter for the four municipalities involved in narco-politics vying for its qualification for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
PDEA-CAR assistant regional director JavLlyod Leano expressed they are still to consolidate the recent status of illegal-drugs in Abra.
