Tree pruning sought for public safety
BAGUIO City Councilor Francisco Roberto Ortega VI is recommending the regular pruning of trees in the city for the safety of all.
Ortega, head of the committee on public protection and safety, peace and order proposed the City Environment and Parks Management Office of the city to inspect and prune trees to ensure safety and security.
Ortega added the geographical location of the city makes it prone for natural disasters and reported from the month of June to September, the city is exposed to typhoons and storms and prone to landslides, earthquakes and other volcanic activities “due to the fact that we are along the Pacific ring of fire.”
The city official in his report to the council said the city government has been intensifying efforts in ensuring the safety of its constituents every year before the start of the rainy season with various precautionary measures have been considered to prepare the city in case of emergencies like floods and other calamities.
A precautionary measure to be taken
by the city is the regular trimming and removal of tree branches to avoid accidents.
Ortega cited in the last storm, a bystander was hurt when a tree branch fell on him, pushing the alderman to craft the resolution which has been approved by the entire body.
