Mankayan holds 2018 math-science fest
“SCIENCE Innovations can help solve many problems,” says Mankayan Mayor Attorney Materno Luspian in his message elaborating the theme “Science for the People, Innovation for Collective Prosperity” during the District Math Festival held at Mankayan Central School, Mankayan, Benguet on September 26-27.
At least 326 pupils and teachers from different schools of Mankayan participated in the festival. The activities taken during the event were Math and Science quizzes, Investigatory Projects, DaMath and Sci-Dama board games, Teacher Category-Strategic Intervention Materials (SIMs) to be used in teaching Math and Science Subjects, and Search for Outstanding Science Teacher.
The results were as follows: Science Quizzes; First Placers- Darwin Jr. A. Anongos of Lepanto Elementary School (Grade 3), Azer Frankie E. Basiyo of Sapid Elem. School (Grade 4), Nezlyn Fate Pangsil of Guinaoang Elem. School (Grade 5) and Bryleth Rio B. Orque of Colalo Elem, School (Grade 6). In Mathematics Quizzes; 1st Placers; Aldrin Dale G. Ventura of Lepanto Elem. School (Grade 3), Rhian Razel Ciervo of Marivic ES (Grade 4), Houden Rhian P. Legaspi of Mankayan ES (Grade 5) and Irish Jaba Pablo of Bulalacao ES (Grade 6). In Board Games; DAMATH first placers were; Arjay R. Lopez of Paco ES (Level II), Antonio A. Pateres of Paco ES (Level III). In SciDama, First Placers were; Roi Collins B. Sitsit of Paco ES (Level II) and Cyrix Kurt L. Malugay of Cabacab ES (Level III). Lepanto Elementary School bagged three Investigatory Projects. In Team Category; 1st place (Title-Mosquito Larvicide) - Aubrey Joy G. Songcuan, Phoebe Jane M. Dela Cruz and Athena Eunice G. Mabiasen, 2nd place (Title- BHCCH: An Environmental Friendly Heat Insulator) - Bailey John A. Billiones, Maria Luisa D. Bulawit and Xandria D. Sagpaten. In Individual Category; 1st place (Title- Pinus Insularis: as a biosource of Pesticide)Richie Vonn C. Espada of Lepanto ES. Other schools were not able to submit any Investigatory project due to time constrains.
Not only students were tested but also teachers under Teacher Category. As per results; Science Subject SIMs (Grade IV), 1st Place Marieta P. Marquez of Suyoc ES, 2nd place – Ruby Ann D. Pacio of Palatong ES. Science SIMs (Grade V), 1st place – Cony Marie W. Salepeo of Bulalacao ES and 2nd placeCatherine D. Soliba of Palatong ES. Science SIMs (Grade VI); 1st place- Catherine D. Soliba of Palatong ES; 2nd place- Loradel B. Lumido of Bulalacao ES and 3rd place-Dolores S. Paplonot of Sapid ES. In Search for Outstanding Science Teacher; 1st place-Vivian K. Guzman of Suyoc ES, 2nd placeCatherine D. Soliba of Palatong ES and 3rd place-Assandra Grace M. Nginsayan of Paco ES. Over All Results were; 1st place-Lepanto Elem. School, 2nd placePalatong Elem. School and 3rd place-Paco Elem. School.
The First Placers in Science-Math quizzes, Board Games and also Teacher Category will represent Mankayan District on the upcoming Division Math-Science Festival which will be held in Tublay National High School on October 10-12.
