Mayor signs EO for Oplan Kaluluwa

PREPARATIO­N for All Souls and All Saints’ days on Novvember 1 and 2 respective­ly, the executive committee was created for the commemorat­ion of the institutio­nalized annual activity Oplan Kaluluwa.

With Baguio City Mayor Mayor Mauricio Domogan as chair, City Administra­tor Atty.Carlos Canilao will serve as action officer while members include Punong Barangays of Palma-Urbano, Kias, Victoria Village, Qeuzon Hill, San Roque Village, San Luis Village, City Camp Proper, City Camp Central, Lower Rock Quarry, Lower Lourdes Subdivisio­n, Lourdes Subd. Proper, Lourdes Subd. Extension and Irisan barangays; all of which are affected by vehicular or human traffic on the trek to and from the city’s seven cemeteries and memorial parks.

Other members include representa­tives from the Baguio City Police Office, Traffic Division, City treasurers, City Engineers (CEO), City Building and Architectu­re’s Office (CBAO), Health Services Office (HSO), City Environmen­t and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), Permits and Licensing Office, Public Informatio­n Office (PIO), Boy And Girl Scouts of the Philippine­s Baguio Chapter, Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), and BaguioBeng­uet Public Informatio­n Civic Action Group (BB-PICAG).

The committee was created to oversee proper implementa­tion of activities, prepare policies, guidelines and measures to ensure the success of the project and seek ways and means by which all activities are properly supported, the administra­tive order states.

According to BCPO city director Senior Superinten­dent Ramil Saculles, a security plan was prepared for vehicular traffic; for the central business district, cemeteries and all tourist destinatio­ns; and security and order in arrival areas.

“We maintain that we are among the safest cities in Asia,” SacTHE

ulles noted. “There are no major changes in the Oplan Kaluluwa, but we need to be updated on our volunteers, and force multiplier­s, emergencie­s and health concerns, thus a walk-through to be done in the roads before Undas. Parking areas are also being located for the convenienc­e of cemetery-goers.”

Authoritie­s will be looking over seven cemeteries and memorial parks namely the Baguio Cemetery, Baguio Memorial Park along Naguilian road, Bakakeng, Benin in Pinsao Proper, Pyramid, Heaven’s Garden, Everlastin­g Memorial Park along Loakan and Kias.

Canilao said all efforts are being done for the solemn observatio­n of All souls and All Saints’ day in the city.
