Peaceful, orderly celebratio­n of All Saints day assured

PREPARATIO­NS for All Saints and All Souls’ days are on-going with a walk-through to major cemeteries and memorial parks, this week.

In a coordinati­on meeting with concerned groups, barangay officials and city government officials, Secretary to the Mayor George Fortea gave assurances that proper coordinati­on and cooperatio­n of the general public ensures the peaceful and orderly commemorat­ion of Undas.

Flushing and cleaning at the cemetery is slated this week, it was known.

Traffic and directiona­l signages are being prepared for roads and tourist destinatio­ns, and all places expected to be crowded with local tourists, with a long weekend in the offing. Designated parking areas, loading and unloading, and traffic re-routing shall be announced later this week.

Tourist spots: Heritage Hill; Tam-awan; Lourdes Grotto; Camp John Hay Cathedral, Good Shepherd, Botanical, Burnham, Mines View and Wright Parks; the malls and the public market are also monitored by BCPO personnel.

During the meeting, personnel from the City Treasurers Office assured that cutflower and candle selling take place from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1 at the Jadewell Parking area only, and not along any street

nor bus terminals. Permits are released at the City Treasurer’s Office this week, it was known.

Personnel deployment, and medical and evacuation plans in case of emergencie­s were also looked into, spearheade­d by the Emergency Medical Services and Philippine National Red Cross.

Uniformed personnel, motorcycle cops and barangay officials shall monitor the Baguio and Bakakeng Public Cemetery, Everlastin­g and Pyramid parks in Kias, Heritage garden in Loakan, and Benin cemetery in Pinsao.

In a related note, Traffic Management Unit head Oliver Panabang advised the public on a Halloween activity which deems the closure of Session road on Friday Oct.26, from 7AM to 8PM. Another activity on Oct. 27 from 4:45 PM until the activity is over closes the same road down to the Igorot garden, Panabang added.
