Security tightened for Undas
THOUSANDS of police personnel in the region will be deployed and will be beefed - up by security from the six provinces and city of Cordillera during the observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day for this year.
Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana, Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PROCOR) regional director together with his staff will be conducting security preparedness and inspection of the cemeteries and bus terminals in the region, especially Baguio City and Benguet, where thousands of travelers are expected during the long weekend.

tional Police (PNP) would be on full alert as it launches “Oplan Undas” to provide public safety, security, and other contingency measures in coordination with the other law enforcement agencies, local government units (LGUs), non-government and other volunteer organizations.
All cell sites and towers will also be secured to prevent possible attacks by rebels.
At least 1,894 cops will be deployed in the 173 cemeteries, churches, transport terminals, and other places in the region to provide assistance along highways and major thoroughfares, traffic management, and security assistance.
An additional 3,238 force multipliers composed of barangay peacekeeping action team (BPAT) and volunteers were tapped to provide assistance in securing the Undas 2018.
For Baguio City, 584 PNP personnel and 686 force multiplier will be deployed while 258 cops and 677 force multiplier will be deployed in Benguet for the duration of the observance of Undas.
Nana added as the need arises, standby PNP personnel from the Regional Headquarters will be ready to be deployed anytime.
Major cemeteries to be visited in Baguio City will be the Baguio Public Cemetery, Baguio Memorial Cemetery at Naguilian Road, Heaven’s Garden Memorial Park and Everlasting/Pyramid Cemetery at Kias, Baguio City. For Benguet, will be the Buyagan Pyramid Cemetery. Likewise, all major transportation hubs and big commercial centers are inspected to ensure safe and secure Undas 2018.
Nana meanwhile appealed to the public to support and cooperate with our policemen and comply with all security protocols so as to ensure their security and safety.
“The public is once again discouraged to bring any bladed objects, liquor, portable radio stereo components and other prohibited items since these would be confiscated by the policemen who will be very strict in checking belongings brought by people to the cemeteries on October 31, November 1 & 2, 2018,” Nana said.
