Tibay ng Pinay
AFTER several postponements the 5th Women’s Martial Arts Festival with arnis, boxing, fencing, judo, karate-do, muay thai, penkak silat, taekwondo, wrestling and wushu to be played by women athletes in conjunction with the celebration of women’s month.
Baguio, being one of the pioneers of the event has sent a strong contingent with the hope of bagging another strong finish over-all following the exemplary finishes in the
Philippine National
Games held in Cebu and National
Batang Pinoy held in Baguio City respectively.
Once again Baguio is on to prove the branding of being an athletes’ haven especially in the field of martial arts and combative sports.
The event is being held as this article is being written which started on the 23rd of October and will run until the 25th at the Robinsons Plaza in Metro Manila.
Filipino’s culture of regarding high on our women is very evident in this event, giving them a sporting event exclusively for them.
Gone are the days that martial arts and combative sports are exclusively for males. As we all seek equality in its moral sense, we give opportunities to both sexes to showcase their talents and or skills to break the barrier of gender discrimination. We recognize that both gender are essential to the community and that working together would be the best approach to attaining goals rather than creating competition amongst the supposed partners.
We deviate from the times when we identify inferior and superior among sexes and make way for the acceptance of free living and free expression because at the end of the day, when we say Filipino, it does not only identify male or female, it will always be Filipino as a whole.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay and Filipino!!!
