BLISTTDA to solve rehab calls

- Maria Elena Catajan Sun*Star Reporter

BAGUIO City Representative Mark Go said the formation of the Baguio, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay Development Authority (BLISTTDA) will answer calls to rehabilitate the city.

"BLISTTDA will address Baguio's rehabilitation needs thru the crafting and implementation of a development plan by the Authority."

This year, the House of Representatives voted on HB 6974 seeking the creation of BLISTTDA.

"The six areas of BLISTTDA including Baguio will be represented in the council

under the authority where all matters will be discussed and agreed upon," Go said.

BLISTTDA will exercise management, regulatory and supervisory authority and will include services of development planning, urban renewal, land use planning, housing and shelter formulation, transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal and management, flood control and sewerage management, water resource system, health and sanitation, pollution control and public safety and order.

The Baguio solon said stakeholders from all areas were consulted during public hearings on the House Bill at the House of Representatives and Senate.

"The bill is a comprehensive approach to address Baguio and the five municipalities' development concerns and issues," added Go.

Senator Dick Gordon has vocally backed the creation of the BLISTTDA and alluded to bringing back the old charm of Baguio City.

The proposed measure will render services having wider coverage and impact as well as rationalize the usage of infrastructures and thoroughfares, transport and traffic management, environment, tourism, water supply and waste management, migration, and housing.
