Prayerfulness

-

ON February 3, 2018, The Philippine Star featured an article highlighting that the Philippines maintained the position as the world’s social media capital for three consecutive years according to 2018 Global Digital Report. The study revealed that, in 2017, Filipinos would spend an average of about four (4) hours on social media and nine (9) hours and 29minutes on internet daily. The same report also highlighted that 63% (67million) of the Philippine population (total population of 105.7million) have access to the internet. With this, imagine the magnitude of impact when the internet connection is down or the speed is slow.

Have we ever experienced intermittent internet connection or even no connection at all due to technical glitches and delays in resolving the issue? How about our telecommunication provider’s line is down resulting to no signal to call or receive calls and text messages? In the age of social media and advanced technology, having no internet or phone connection even for a day seems unimaginable. One would feel disconnected to and uninformed about the world. Others would even feel that something is missing in a day. One’s response to such situation reflects much about the value of being connected.

This week’s value on prayerfulness also talks about connection. Prayerfulness is the act of being connected to God all the time. As public servants who are constantly faced with temptations and challenges because of prevailing ill of graft and corruption, the value of prayerfulness is undoubtedly essential. This is anchored on the Preamble of our Constitution that states, “We, the sovereign Filipino people imploring the aid of the Almighty God”. Imploring the aid of the Almighty God symbolizes our dependency to our Creator and signifies our admission that we can do nothing apart from Him. Recognizing the fact that a human, by nature, is frail without divine intervention, prayerfulness must be a constant practice. will. His desires are laid out clearly for us. He teaches us to do what is right. Many teachings found in Proverbs, among other books, are so applicable in our lives that they are the perfect guides for business and for life.

When we wait expectantly in faith, God answers us. He reminds us that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains. Our concerns in life do not usually even require such great actions, but nothing is impossible with God. My Dearest Children,

When we face temporary setbacks in life, let us keep in mind that God knows best, and He has great plans for us.

He wants us to be happy. But he wants us to follow His will to achieve this. It is usually during challenging times that we are reminded to turn to Him, and remember that “everything comes from Him, everything lives by His power, and everything is for His glory”.

Finally, after doing our best and praying for the best, let us wait expectantly in faith.

Psalm 5:3 “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice, in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”

Avoid failure. Partner with God.
