THE multi-awarded Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio 2018 caring and sharing Decemberbest glorious and joyful series of special events is on the podium this morning. A bonanza group of some 4,000 pupils from the various CSWDO Day Care Centers together with their parents clad in multi-colored costumes parade down Session Road to partake and enjoy the Blessing of the Christmas Season and give more meaning and purpose to the 45th year anniversary of Silahis ng Pasko which started as a Baguio Balikbayan program of the city under the leadership of Mayor Luis Lardizabal with the full support and cooperation of the Department of Tourism led by Secretary Joe Aspiras.

About 400 Balikbayans from the United States and Hawaii from home province Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte led by Ilocos Sur Vice Governor Pablito Sanidad were the honorees of the city’s Balikbayans Silahis ng Pasko 1973 offering.

The Children-Parents Christmas Mardigras will portray biblical personages like “Mary and Joseph with Baby Jesua,” angels, the Three Kings, shepherds, barn animals, Sta. Clauses, various flower shapes and Christmas package boxes and giant Christmas cards, among others. The grand opening program of Silahis will be held at the Melvin Jones Grandstand with City Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Congressman Mark Go delivering their respec- tive Christmas messages. CSWDO head Betty Fangasan, co-chairperson of Silahis ng Pasko will give the welcome opening remarks while Madams Solidad Go and Rebecca Domogan will break the ceremonial Christmas pot to declare the start of the monthlong religious, fraternal, social-civic, cultural, sports and tourism activities of the Decembest offering for all ages sponsored by the National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB), the CSWDO and in cooperation with the City of Baguio.

A highlight feature of this morning program is the presentation and coronation ceremonies honoring the winners of last Wednesday’s Annual Quest for the Little Miss and Mr. Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio 2018.

The final phase of the quest was held at the City hall Multi-Purpose Hall under the supervision of Liza Bulayongan, the CSWDO staff member for the special endeavor. This year’s children’s Royal Court is led by 4-year-old Jared Ayeza Carino from St. Joseph Child Development Center and escort Raphael Cabading from Pacdal 3 CDC. Mayor Domogan and Congressman Go together with their spouses and parents of the pageant winners will be in the “potongan entourage”.
