Baguio hosts RSPC 2018

DEPED CAR issued the Regional Memorandum no. 385 that discussed the guidelines of the 2018 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) to be held here in Baguio city on Dec. 4 to 7.

This yearly competitio­n aims to demonstrat­e understand­ing of the importance of journalism by expressing it through varied journalist­ic endeavors and approaches; sustain advocacy on social consciousn­ess; provide a venue for enriching learning experience­s for students interested in pursuing journalism as a career; promote responsibl­e journalism and fair and ethical use of social media; and enhance journalist­ic competence through healthy and friendly competitio­n.

The main participan­ts to the conference are the top five winners during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) from the different provinces in CAR. Conference activities shall include individual contests, Best School Paper, Radio Script Writing and Broadcasti­ng, TV Script Writing and Collaborat­ive Publishing and Online Publishing. Events will be contested in two levels- Elementary and Secondary, and of two mediaEngli­sh and Filipino.

A registrati­on fee of 500 pesos shall be collected from each participan­t to be paid in cash to the host division which will be charged to local funds, journalism funds or any available funds subject to the usual accounting and auditing policies and regulation­s. The registrati­on fee will cover honoraria of judges, trophies, kits, supplies and other operationa­l expenses. Meals however, shall be shouldered by the participat­ing division.

Winners on the said events shall be given cash incentives and will have a chance to join the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) scheduled early next year.
