Baguio hosts RSPC 2018

DEPED CAR is­sued the Re­gional Mem­o­ran­dum no. 385 that dis­cussed the guide­lines of the 2018 Re­gional Schools Press Con­fer­ence (RSPC) to be held here in Baguio city on Dec. 4 to 7.

This yearly com­pe­ti­tion aims to demon­strate un­der­stand­ing of the im­por­tance of jour­nal­ism by ex­press­ing it through var­ied jour­nal­is­tic en­deav­ors and ap­proaches; sus­tain ad­vo­cacy on so­cial con­scious­ness; pro­vide a venue for en­rich­ing learn­ing ex­pe­ri­ences for stu­dents in­ter­ested in pur­su­ing jour­nal­ism as a ca­reer; pro­mote re­spon­si­ble jour­nal­ism and fair and eth­i­cal use of so­cial me­dia; and en­hance jour­nal­is­tic com­pe­tence through healthy and friendly com­pe­ti­tion.

The main par­tic­i­pants to the con­fer­ence are the top five win­ners dur­ing the Di­vi­sion Schools Press Con­fer­ence (DSPC) from the dif­fer­ent prov­inces in CAR. Con­fer­ence ac­tiv­i­ties shall in­clude in­di­vid­ual con­tests, Best School Pa­per, Ra­dio Script Writ­ing and Broad­cast­ing, TV Script Writ­ing and Col­lab­o­ra­tive Pub­lish­ing and On­line Pub­lish­ing. Events will be con­tested in two lev­els- Ele­men­tary and Se­condary, and of two me­di­aEnglish and Filipino.

A reg­is­tra­tion fee of 500 pe­sos shall be col­lected from each par­tic­i­pant to be paid in cash to the host di­vi­sion which will be charged to lo­cal funds, jour­nal­ism funds or any avail­able funds sub­ject to the usual ac­count­ing and au­dit­ing poli­cies and reg­u­la­tions. The reg­is­tra­tion fee will cover hon­o­raria of judges, tro­phies, kits, sup­plies and other op­er­a­tional ex­penses. Meals how­ever, shall be shoul­dered by the par­tic­i­pat­ing di­vi­sion.

Win­ners on the said events shall be given cash in­cen­tives and will have a chance to join the Na­tional Schools Press Con­fer­ence (NSPC) sched­uled early next year.
