TOURISTS going and coming out of Baguio City and Benguet province are advise to take the newly opened road in Tuba to evade traffic.

This, after the Department of Public Works and Highways inaugurated the Tubao - Nangalisan Road in Tuba as an alternate route going to Benguet and Baguio City.

With the upcoming Yuletide season, Tuba Municipal Police Station Police Chief Inspector James Acod stated with the newly open route, travel time from Tubao in La union to Baguio City is reduced to 45 minutes to one- hour drive.

On December 11, he added a joint cluster meeting together with the Baguio City Police Office in preparation for the influx of tourists.

Motorists are further advised the road is only good for light vehicles.

“The road serves as a good alternate route. At least, motorists can avoid the very steep area in Badiwan, Poblacion in Tuba, Benguet,” said Acod.

The top cop added their stations is conducting information education campaign through social media to further inform tourist and divert stakeholders in using the alternate route.

For traffic deployment, a close coordination is set with the Pugo and Tubao, La Union to guide tourists and locals who opt to take the said route.

Tanods and volunteers are also tapped for traffic management, adds Acod.

Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso cited the two-way newly opened Nangalisan section of Tuba, Benguet passing through Tubao a well pave road.

“Looking at the situation in Marcos Highway going to Naguilian road traffic is very heavy. We need alternative route and it helps especially who cannot pass by Marcos Highway,” he added.
