A DIRECT line for complaints about labor issues is being pushed at city hall.

On a move by Councilor Arthur Allad-iw, a resolution requesting the Department of Labor and Employment Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLECAR), in coordination with the City Government of Baguio to putup a complaint desk at the city hall to cater labor issues.

The move was a result of a recent labor summit last year gathering the

labor force in the City of Baguio in one venue in order to hear and collate their issues and concerns and suggestions as these are crucial in drafting legislations that promote and protect the rights of labor as mandated by law;

Allad - iw said during the summit, the participants were encouraged to speak out on issues that need to be addressed. And among the suggestions from the participants was to putup a complaint desk at the Baguio City Hall to cater issues.

The city official added it is a policy of the State as imbedded in our Fundamental Law that “the State shall afford full protection to labor, local and overseas, organized and unorganized, and promote full employment and equality of employment opportunities for al and promote a just and dynamic social order that will ensure the prosperity and independence of the nation and free the people from poverty through policies that provide quality of life for all.”

Allad – iw is the chairperson of the committee on employment, livelihood and cooperatives, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) with members Councilors Francisco Roberto A. Ortega VI, Mylen Yaranon and SK Federation president Levy Lloyd Orcales.

The move was approved during this week’s council meeting.
