Kalinga celebrates 3rd Bodong fest

THE SOUND of gongs reverberat­e in Tabuk City to celebrate the 24th Kalinga Founding Anniversar­y and third Bodong Festival February 14.

Cultural presentati­ons participat­ed by the towns of Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pasil, Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tanudan, Tinglayan and Tabuk City highlighte­d this year’s Bodong Festival.

Pasil topped the cultural presentati­on winning P500,000 followed by Tanudan with taking with them P300,000 while Rizal landed third with P200,000.

Other events during the Bodong Fest includes

an agro trade fair showcase products from the seven municipali­ties and Tabuk City.

A Kalinga Treasurers Fair was also opened were commercial products are displayed.

Kalinga was originally part of Mt. Province in 1966. Through Republic Act (RA) 4695, Mt. Province was separated into four independen­t provinces namely Benguet, Mt. Province, Ifugao and Kalinga-Apayao.

In 1995 by virtue of RA 7878 Kalinga and Apayao became two separate provinces.
