What’s the point of wearing school uniform?

-

EVERY school has its own regulation about the wearing of school uniforms. Some schools require wearing of uniforms while some allow them to wear any clothes. In public schools, wearing of uniform is not required. Department of Education order 45, issued by the former education secretary Jesli Lapus in 2008 as instructed by the former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, student uniforms are not required in public elementary and secondary schools. This is to increase school participation of all school-aged children by removing any and all obstacles, particularly financial.

Wearing of uniform has also its benefits not only to the school but also to the parents and students. Nowadays, there are lots of cases on escaping or cutting classes and missing students. The school uniform shows the identity of the school where the students were enrolled. If they escaped from their classes, there is a greater chance that it will be reported immediately in their school if someone saw them outside the school during class hours.

The school uniform may not cost much to parents as compared to the casual clothes they are going to buy for their children to wear every day befor cause uniforms are to be worn not only for one school year but until they graduate. One more thing, parents will not worry everyday on what their children will wear.

Wearing of uniform makes everyone feel they belong and equal. Equal in a sense that they wear the same clothes either they belong
