La Trinidad district champions the math-science festival

BENGUET Division conducted the 2019 Mathematic­s and Science Festival with the theme “Science and Mathematic­s for the People: Enabling Technologi­es for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t” at Loo, Buguias, Benguet on October 9-11, 2019.

At least 450 elementary participan­ts from different districts of Benguet participat­ed in the affair. The activities taken in during the event were Math and Science quizzes, Science Investigat­ory Projects and Damath and Sci-Dama board games. For Teacher Category-Strategic Interventi­on Materials (SIMs) in Math and Science, Search for Outstandin­g Math and Science Teachers, and Action Research.

Science quizzes first placers: Lizly Shane Quirimit (Grade 3) from Tublay District; Arhiane Bialno (Grade 4) from Kibungan District; Shimea Pearl Pinong (Grade 5) from Kapangan District and Kalea Anne Adeban (Grade 6) from La Trinidad District.

Mathematic­s quizzes first placers: Blais Angelo Dao-anis (Grade 3) from Private Schools; Kayleigh Fianza (Grade 4) of Private Schools; Kesha Osngao (Grade 5) from Tublay District; and Keona Bangsi-il (Grade 6) from La Trinidad District.

In board games: Damath first placers are Itogon I District (whole number), Mankayan District (fraction damath).

In sci-dama, first placers are Tuba District (water patrol), Atok District (power patrol).

For science investigat­ory project (SIP), first placers are Gepsy Jiselle Langbis, Jaycee Velle Esguerra, Charisse Gail Calpasi of Buguias District (team category) and Crisha Kate Valdez of La Trinidad District (individual category).

For the teacher category science strategic interventi­on materials (SIMs), first placers are: Letecia Canuto from La Trinidad District (Grade 4), Keziah Pulquiso of La Trinidad District (Grade 5) and Rosana Lucas from La Trinidad District (Grade 6).

For Math SIMs, first places are Raquel Gayaso from Buguias District (Grade 4), Mac Taner Almazan from La Trinidad District (Grade 5) and Cylene Bacbac of La Trinidad District (Grade 6).

The first placers for outstandin­g teachers are Lilia Saguibal from Bakun District (science) and Elmerine Panagan from La Trinidad District (math).

La Trinidad District landed as the champion with a total points of 171.5, first runner up was Mankayan District with 129 points and second runner-up was Buguias District with 76 points.

First placers in quizzes and board games and top three SIP will represent Benguet Division in the upcoming Regional Mathematic­s and Science Festival to be held at Tabuk City in November 2019.
