Rise of the DepEd mafia, ninja teachers (part six)

- CLAYTON CHACAPNA

DON’T slip-up the title; it does not refer to that prohibited object which menaces so ciety. The recycling of it also is far from what it portends. But it refers to the real meaning of ninja—turning the stone into dust and the ninja vanishes. So it is an answer to the previous question, what are some of those that transpired in the yearly “pammadayaw.” So here are the stories of six teachers: Clyde, Aris, Ruffy, Ira, Nino and Otto, a.k.a the CARINO ninja teachers, who in their own ways had turn the stone into dusts.

Clyde entered the public school without any debts incurred. The salary in the public school is better but since he was just renting and commutes every day, he dreamed of his own house and car. And so the money from loan sharks including their very own employee’s Cooperative seems tempting. Presto he had his house and car funded by loans. But it seems this loan has been extended several times in a loan—re-loan scheme. And now he is at Fidel’s gymnasium targeting the signing of attendance only, of which thereafter goes to a place where he can extend another loan.

Aris, the magnificent coach taught of his athletes who in this celebrated times are still training. In his mind, what can be more rewarding are well trained players competing in local and international sports. The name of the mountainous city is at stake in any competition. The city is surrounded with adverse parties with only one purpose, to make the city suffer humiliating defeats. So time is essential. Ruffy, for fear that his uncaring principal might consider him absent goes to an area where he is visible. But after the principal and head vanishes, so with him. He went to pay his city services bill, took a grocery and went home straight. Laundries are waiting, otherwise his wife opens her badmouth.

Ira has in mind, the color of her hair, the lipstick and perfume she will have after the attendance. And when the eye of her head teacher does not point at her, she took the stone and vanishes. Noli doesn’t care what is happening at Fidel’s gymnasium. He knows that those who run the affairs in this celebration are Mafiosi’s. If you are not in favor of their way, better not interfere. Else, you end up in the mafia’s list of teachers that cannot be promoted, neither demoted. And so he signed the attendance to please the mafia.

Otto knows that upon his entrance in the gymnasium, his ears will be filled with “speeches of promises”. Politicians coming now and then are here trying to uplift the spirit of public school teachers by merely talking about the words of wisdom. But for him, it seems Mayor Benjie, the elected mayor of the mountainous city, can do something about it. He can stir the compass that points how the special education Fund is wisely utilized. To his dismay however, mayor Benjie never said about it. He waited for the speech of Congressman “Tsing Tsong Tsai” and there was no good news either. So he took the stone and vanishes; else, someone might call his name twice and it sounds “uto uto.” But on the other side, at the mountainous school of city high, the intramural was just concluded. What usually was the future of intramural until to the region?
