DepEd-CAR bats for global competence
TABUK CITY, Kalinga - The Department of Education -Cordillera Region(DepEd -CAR) aims for global competitiveness while maintaining Filipino identity and culture.
DepEd-CAR Regional Director May Eclar during the opening of the Regional Academic and Skills Festival here, said “the trend for global excellence today is unstoppable and that we must not be left behind”.
Towards this, she called on stakeholders to keep track and strengthen DepEd’s K12 program which is a bedrock for global competitiveness among the students.
Through the K-12, our country’s graduates are recognized abroad and are allowed to practice their feat, Eclar said.
“While we wanted our graduates to be globally competitive, let us also challenge our teachers if they, as well, are globally-competent,” Eclar said as she disclosed that the National Educators Academy has scaled-up trainings and seminars to capacitate teachers on global competency standards.
Eclar reminded that in getting with the rest of the world, “we do not compromise our own identity and culture as people. Let us remain Filipino in culture and value. Being globally competitive is not the end, let us link ways to also become globally collaborative, she said, reminding the world now lives as a small community. For this reason, she urged everyone to join the advocacy on mitigating disaster hazard, climate change and health issues, and other important concerns.”
