Baguio starts 2nd tranche payout of SAP
PAYOUT for the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the national government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is ongoing.
Social welfare personnel are currently confirming several details from each of the 8,920 city beneficiaries before handing over P5,500, or if a 4Ps member, the amount would be same as earlier cash assistance given. Payouts are done in several key venues where social distancing could be practiced.
According to CSWDO head Betty Fangasan, 33,658 qualified beneficiaries shall receive payouts from PayMaya through electronic means.
Recipients are advised to be posted through their cellular phones.
At least 5,830 applicants however were denied of the SAP as they are already beneficiaries from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Social Services System (SSS) and other agencies.
Fangasan clarified the city has surpassed its target of about 45,000 beneficiaries.
SAP is a cash emergency subsidy project for families who were financially hit by the Covid-19 global pandemic, with workplace closures rendering employees jobless.
Covid-19 victim’s families who were home-quarantined received assistance from the CSWDO in the form of food packs, Fangasan said. Individuals in dire need were also given food assistance.
The CSWDO also assists visually impaired individuals in a rugmaking project, as they were deprived of jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Fangasan further said.
