Baguio starts 2nd tranche pay­out of SAP

PAY­OUT for the sec­ond tranche of the So­cial Ame­lio­ra­tion Program (SAP) of the na­tional govern­ment through the City So­cial Wel­fare and De­vel­op­ment Of­fice (CSWDO) is on­go­ing.

So­cial wel­fare per­son­nel are cur­rently con­firm­ing sev­eral de­tails from each of the 8,920 city ben­e­fi­cia­ries be­fore hand­ing over P5,500, or if a 4Ps mem­ber, the amount would be same as ear­lier cash as­sis­tance given. Pay­outs are done in sev­eral key venues where so­cial dis­tanc­ing could be prac­ticed.

Ac­cord­ing to CSWDO head Betty Fan­gasan, 33,658 qual­i­fied ben­e­fi­cia­ries shall re­ceive pay­outs from PayMaya through elec­tronic means.

Re­cip­i­ents are ad­vised to be posted through their cel­lu­lar phones.

At least 5,830 ap­pli­cants how­ever were de­nied of the SAP as they are al­ready ben­e­fi­cia­ries from the Depart­ment of La­bor and Em­ploy­ment (DOLE), Land Trans­porta­tion Fran­chis­ing and Reg­u­la­tory Board (LTFRB), So­cial Ser­vices Sys­tem (SSS) and other agen­cies.

Fan­gasan clar­i­fied the city has sur­passed its tar­get of about 45,000 ben­e­fi­cia­ries.

SAP is a cash emer­gency sub­sidy project for fam­i­lies who were fi­nan­cially hit by the Covid-19 global pan­demic, with work­place clo­sures ren­der­ing em­ploy­ees job­less.

Covid-19 vic­tim’s fam­i­lies who were home-quar­an­tined re­ceived as­sis­tance from the CSWDO in the form of food packs, Fan­gasan said. In­di­vid­u­als in dire need were also given food as­sis­tance.

The CSWDO also as­sists vis­ually im­paired in­di­vid­u­als in a rug­mak­ing project, as they were de­prived of jobs due to the Covid-19 pan­demic, Fan­gasan fur­ther said.
