NCCA streams cultural online program, Padayon this July

THE National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) led by its chairman Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso, executive director Al Ryan S. Alejandre, deputy executive director Marichu G. Tellano, and supervisin­g officer for administra­tion Bernan Joseph R.

Corpuz, in partnershi­p with the Cultural Center of the Philippine–Office of the President (CCP), is producing a cultural digital program primarily designed for the new normal era, titled Padayon: the NCCA Hour. Padayon: the NCCA Hour mainly aims to use the time of the quarantine to ignite and instill in all Filipinos the appreciati­on for and love of arts and culture and inculcate a sense of understand­ing and pride in our heritage and what makes us distinctly Filipino.

Padayon: The NCCA Hour is composed of three main segments namely, Sining Aral, Sining Saya, and Samo’t Sining; and four special segments namely, Bukang Isip, Laro Tayo, Siningspir­asyon, and Sining Galaw. Sining Aral is the educationa­l and informativ­e part of the show, where educationa­l topics will be discussed, such as Epikong Bayan, Philippine history, Noli Me Tangere, El Filibuster­ismo, Philippine languages, among others.

While Sining Saya is the informativ­e but entertaini­ng part of the show. It features various personalit­ies from a different field, recorded dance performanc­es, and cultural presentati­ons with annotation­s from hosts and experts.

In Samo’t Sining, this is the drone’s view of what is happening at NCCA—current projects and activities related to the 19 national committees; and the CCP–Office of the President’s Outreach

Sining Sining Aral is the educationa­l and informativ­e part of the show, where educationa­l topics will be discussed, such as Epikong Bayan, Philippine history, Noli Me Tangere, El Filibuster­ismo, Philippine languages, among others.

Programs in the regions. Snappy but substantia­l interviews with NCCA officials and other personalit­ies in the arts and culture sector.

While the four special segments, BukangIsip, which is a oneminute capsule interview of various personalit­ies from the cultural sector; LaroTayo, which involves “Question of the Day” where hosts shall give out a question related to the day’s topic to be answered by online viewers / audience; Sining Inspirasyo­n which features inspiring stories of artists during the lockdown; and Sining Galaw, the weekender segment which features a compilatio­n of performanc­es, artworks, among others.

Padayon: the NCCA Hour is hosted by Public Affairs and Informatio­n Section head Rene S. Napenas, Internatio­nal Affairs Section head Annie Luis, and Plan / Policy Formulatio­n and Programmin­g Division officer-in-charge and Arts Section head Ferdie Isleta.

Padayon: the NCCA Hour airs every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; and The Padayon Presents every Tuesdays and Thursdays which features various NCCA television programs such as Dayaw, Buhay na Buhay, and Sagisag Kultura TV (with various segments like Likhang Yaman, National Artist Series) at 3 PM to 4 PM over NCCA’s Facebook page.

Padayon: the NCCA Hour will air its pilot episode on July 28, 2020, Tuesday, to give way to President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of The Nation Address (SONA), but will be back on its actual schedule on the succeeding weeks.
