LAES conducts cluster school learning action cell
THE three-day Cluster School Learning Action Cell in Curriculum, Governance, Operations, and Management was successfully launched last September 9 to 11 at Labinio-Acquisio Elementary School at Sookan, Gambang in Bakun, Benguet.
This was attended by 12 participants from Labinio- Acquisio Elementary School and Tingbaoen-Galisen Elementary School of Bakun, Benguet.
This SLAC equipped the teachers on the preparations facing towards the new normal, an organized-wide process to ensure that teachers will focus their work efforts towards achieving DepEd’s vision and strategic directions amidst the challenges of this Covid-19. The video-lecture, presentation, or discussion was presented and facilitated by participants itself according to the topic assigned to them.
The Covid-19 updates and health protocols were tackled by Mary Grace Matias, MD followed by the lecture on Psychosocial Support by Joven Agtani. These lectures gave a glimpse of why routines and protocols on health and safety must be followed by everyone. They stressed that parents must be oriented on what and how to conduct modules for their children.
Presentation of Rizaly Guznian on Curriculum Implementation Division Project/Programs and the role of parents by Ceasar Luma-ang. These explained the teachers on how will be the school setting and the vital role of parents in this new normal. Learning delivery modalities and modules were given emphasis.
Video lecture on Radio Based Instruction by Francis Peckley and followed by Sonia Dupagan on Learning resource management and development where they pointed out that there are ways on how to avail SLMs and other learning modalities to be used to amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
The day ended with reminders from Pepito
Pulquiso, Principal of Labinio-Acquisio Elementary School, and cluster on the enjoyment of our work and less stress; the difference of the religious affiliating of the parents, and accomplishments of folders for outstanding teachers. He reminded also the teachers on the books, worksheets, storybooks, and radio and television inventory to be ready for distribution or lending to the learners with proper care and availability.
A short program set the mood of the participants during the second day. Emelia S. Sala-id, a teacher in Tingbaoen- Galisen Elementary School, gave the recapitulation of yesterday’s activities through an alphabet strategy.
The video on strategies in the documentation of best practices of schools by Virginia Basatan. She introduced the best practices, the supporting memos, and the format. It was followed by a video of Dr. Dem Mamaat entitled “Creative Leadership in Times of Crisis,” she emphasized on leadership, the practical skills and values of a leader, and effective leaders know their limitations.
After the lunch break, Wilfred Bagsao presented a video on innovation. He discussed developing the innovation, designing and packaging the innovation, its legal basis, and sustainability.
Samuel Egsaen Jr., Schools Division Superintendent assistant- in- charge talked about the guidelines on service excellence for DepEd Officials and Employees with its objective to provide incentives and awards to employees based on their performance, innovative ideas, and exemplary behavior. Schedule of submission of entries to schools, districts, and divisions were given respectively. He encouraged all school personnel to join the said search awards.
Clarification, questions, issues, and concerns were raised and addressed wisely by the energetic school head. The second day ended with thanksgiving to the Almighty God and reminders from the school head for the activity tomorrow.
A brief program opens the mind of the participants during the third day. Magielyn Degway, a teacher in Labinio-Acquisio Elementary School gave the recap for the second- day activities through a question and answer strategy. Every participant was asked a question regarding the topics tackled and all of them happily recalled and shared what they learned.
The lecture video on contingency planning by Nerissa Barbosa, Division DRRM. There as a healthy and informative discussion on how to undergo Chapter 1 until Chapter 4 which made the participants understand more the con- plan.
A workshop on the formulation of scenarios and objectives busied the participants in the afternoon. The exercised the teachers on how to align and solve these problems and targets with DepEd’s direction on the crisis. The lecture video session was ended by the interesting topics of Merlyn Conchita De Guzmann on the Instructional Supervision and The Alternative Learning System (ALS) K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum (ALS 2.10) by Bestre.
The insights gained and the active participation of all the participants from the start until the third day were very good indicators that the simultaneous school learning action cell successfully achieved its objectives.
The closing program was brightened by the insights shared by Catherine Sacla, challenges given by Pepito Pulquiso, acknowledgment, and the positive response given by the participants.
