Works continue

DESPITE the threat of pandemic, works continue for the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio in helping the community in need. This includes donating Personal Protective Equipment to the frontliners as part of their Anti- Covid drive.

Recently, the group headed by their president Jerry Chan personally went to La Trinidad Trading Post in Trinidad, Benguet and donated several boxes of facemasks for the traders and farmers of the province who have been suffering huge losses since the community lockdown started in March.

“This is our small way of helping our farmers who are worse affected by the pandemic. This may not be big but I hope that this will help in protecting them from the virus,” Chan said.

Vegetable trader Clemencia Basilio-Lapas who is also a volunteer in Inter-LGUs Cooperation Covid-19 Relief Assistance project led by La Trinidad Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan, received the facemasks.

“This will be helpful to the almost 500 farmers and traders. This is the first time that we received a facemask donation,” Lapas said.

On that same rainy morning day on October 11 RCMB distributed vegetable relief from the Benguet traders and farmers to four barangays in Baguio City.

RCMB personally picked up the vegetables in La Trinidad then proceeded to Campy 7 where bulk of the veggies were provided and received by Kagawad Benedict Cadiay who was truly thankful for the blessings given for the residents in his area.

After Camp 7, the group also distributed veggies at Scout Barrio, then in Brookspoint Barangay, and Sub Station 6 of Baguio City Police Office in Aurora Hill. The station also received a box of facemasks.

Barangay MRR Queen of Peace under Barangay Captain Raul Caronongan was also given

different kinds of highland vegetables from RCMB.

The activity intended for the barangays affected by lockdown was made possible with the support of Vice Mayor Awingan and Lapas.

With all these efforts many communities will be given help amid the present crisis.
