Palidan Elementary School to Palidan Integrated School
PALIDAN Integrated School (PIS) celebrated its conversion from an elementary to an integrated school together with DepEd leaders and Local Government Officials at Palidan, Dalipey in Bakun, Benguet, last Oct. 2, 2020.
Prior to its conversion, the school only offers kindergarten to Grade
Six. Graduating elementary pupils have to travel for an hour on foot to reach the nearest Junior High School. Now that it’s an integrated school, students need not travel far.
The conversion of the school came about by a bill filed by Benguet caretaker and ACT-CIS Partylist representative Cong. Eric Go Yap which seeks to establish eleven integrated schools.
Benguet Schools Division Superintendent Benilda Daytaca congratulated PIS personnel as well as the PTA.
“Learners need not go to distant schools to continue Junior High. You can even work it out so that you will cater senior high,” Dacayta said in her message.
Gov. Melchor Diclas and Yap’s representative Anthony Kuan also delivered their messages respectively. Diclas gives a little background about his functions as a public servant and how funds from the province are allocated for the construc
tion of a building for the Junior High. Kuan also said that their office is open to whatever they can do to help the people of Benguet.
Meanwhile, coordinating principal Virginia Salio-an in her closing statement said that the approval of PIS conversion was Aug. 2, 2020.
“It was supposed to be earlier because the documents were submitted March 2020 but it was delayed because of this pandemic,” she said. Oliver Lucio
