TO ACCOMMODATE dialysis patients in Benguet, operation of a dialysis center at the Benguet General Hospital ( BeGH) compound in La Trinidad is being eyed January next year.

Governor Melchor Diclas said they hope to open the dialysis center in 2021 upon the arrival of the 10 dialysis machines from the Department of Health (DOH).

“This is to lessen the burden of dialysis patients in the province to travel to other Benguet towns to be given treatment,” the official said on Thursday noting each machine is worth P700,000 each when purchased from private dealers.

The P5 million worth building of the

dialysis center funded by the provincial government is also nearing completion.

The center is located at the back of the Covid-19 molecular laboratory in BeGH.

On Thursday, the official said they plan to ask DOH Secretary Francisco Duque for the 10 dialysis machines to be released to the province.

To date, there are two privately owned dialysis facility inside the BeGH compound.

Aside from the dialysis center, he also said they want to have satellite dialysis facilities in the towns of Bokod and Itogon.

Noting the few visitors going to the Bokod District Hospital, he said there should be other services offered in the hospital that includes services for dialysis patients.

Abatan Hospital, Northern Benguet District Hospital in Buguias and Atok District Hospital are also planned to have dialysis centers.
